What are they?
Cape-Apes are an economical alternative to off-road ATVs and utility vehicles. They are imported from Japan, where they are used like we use pick-up trucks in the United States. Mini trucks have been manufactured in Japan since the early 1960s. In Japan, they are called "keitorakku," which translates to "light weight truck."
What can they be used for?
Cape-Apes are good for dairies, ranches, nurseries, orchards, hunting, grounds maintenance or transportation on private property. Industrial uses are also numerous for large campuses or worksites.
Are they new?
All Cape-Apes are pre-owned, but are hand selected for quality before import from Japan, where mini trucks have been manufactured since 1961. They have generally been turned in with low mileage by their Japanese owners due to their government's extremely strict emissions standards.
Who makes them?
The mini trucks we import come from the following manufacturers: Honda, Mazda, Suzuki, Subaru, Mitsubishi and Daihatsu.
Are they street legal?
These trucks are imported as farm equipment, so only farmers can legally drive mini trucks on public roads (as they would tractors or other "implements of husbandry").
What about parts & service?
Many parts can be obtained at auto parts stores, from various import part sources, or we can have parts imported directly. Service is available at most auto mechanic shops, although we can suggest a local shop that will be most acquainted with these trucks.
How much do they cost?
Basic mini trucks range from $4000 to $6000, approximately half the price of many of their competitors.
Do you have some specs?
